Summer In The Son
It all starts tomorrow.
I get to get away for a few days to beautiful Grayson, Kentucky. It wouldn’t be my first or second choice as a getaway. But I get to be a part of a small team going up to Kentucky Christian University for their annual high school program, Summer In The Son.
And I get to hang out with some of the coolest high school students from Crosspointe Church for a few days. These students will be running tech support for the conference – lights, cameras and video. They are creating the environment for worship and life change to happen over the next couple of weeks. And they excel in what they do.
Our Media Pastor Don pours into his team giving them opportunities that I could only have dreamed of when I was a teenager. If I had someone like Don pour into me like he does with these students, who knows what would have happened. I feel lucky in that one of the students Don mentors during the summer is my son. Stephen was on the team last year and is really looking forward to serving again this summer.
One thing that is different this year is that my daughter Sammi will be joining us while I am there. I am looking forward to spending time with her for the next week or so and see her pitch in and help when she can. She thinks she’s going just to see the David Crowder Band in concert but I’m going to put her to work just like everyone else.
Plus I know everyone is looking forward to the late night Smokey Valley Burgers.
