Anniversary Recap
Today was a wonderful day.
A couple of weeks ago, I told Lisa to take the day off from work and I would do the same and we would spend it together. She wanted to know what we were doing but I kept it a secret until today. As a matter of fact I kept each location a secret until we arrived there.
We started the day off by going to breakfast at Foster’s Market in Durham. After a delicious breakfast of omelettes, fruit, coffee and tea, we headed off to our next stop on the anniversary tour, Duke Gardens in Durham. We hadn’t been there in over 5 years and the weather today was just perfect for a 2 hour tour of the garden. As of last Saturday we were supposed to go wafting down the Eno River but those plans fell through and I had to scramble for a substitute. A couple of hours walking around God’s creation with someone you love soon made me forget about what I had planned.
Next I gave Lisa a choice. I knew that we would be tired from the garden tour so I told her that she could pick a movie of her choice for our third stop. I suggested a couple of movies that I probably wouldn’t go see but maybe she would like – Made of Honor and Baby Mama. She totally blew my mind when she suggested that we see Iron Man! How cool is that! Iron Man it is. My wife rocks.
Next we spent a couple of hours wandering around the Streets at Southpoint looking for nothing in particular. Most of the time was spent at the Apple Store and at Barnes and Noble – two of my favorite places.
My final surprise of the day was dinner at The Melting Pot in Durham. We spent 3 hours at dinner just talking and enjoying each other’s company. No phones, no computers, no kids, just us.
It was a great day to celebrate with the love of my life the past 20 years. Here’s a picture we took at Duke Gardens today.
