As I sit here on a Friday evening enjoying a cup of Kenyan tea, I am eagerly anticipating the first official meeting tomorrow morning of the Cheppema 2008 team.

Tomorrow we begin preparing to go on a short-term mission trip to the orphanage that we have partnered with in Kenya.  Shane and Kara Gauthier are also preparing to receive us and work with us while we are on the ground.

The neat thing for me is to see the makeup of this team that has stepped forward and said “send me”.  We have very specific goals and projects that we have set in place and I know that the right people have said yes to serving at this time.  What we prepare for now God has already been preparing us for this journey.  We just had to say yes, send us.

The critical part for us as a team is now to come together as one as we serve in Cheppema.  That’s why we start preparing 6 months before hand.  It’s my responsibility to prepare this team as much as possible for the trip.  As far as their hearts are concerned, God has already done that.
