A Day At The Track
Sammi had her 2nd track meet today – we missed last week’s because she wasn’t supposed to participate. She was a last minute add so we wanted to make sure we made this week.
By the time we had already got there, her first event the long jump was over. Man – what kind of parents are we?
So we hung around until the next to last event, the 800. She was one of about 20 girls running in this event. Here’s a picture of her at the start line.
Our youth pastor Eddie did a great job on the camera and caught this shot at the end of the race.
She did a fantastic job – finishing up right about in the middle of the pack. She even had enough kick at the end to pass another girl about 20 feet from the finish line.
Given that this is the first sport/activity outside of dance that Sammi has really liked, I am proud that she continues to improve her times each time out. Next track meet is in 2 weeks and we won’t be late for the long jump this time.
